Sustainability

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the international community. The UK Government is committed to significant reductions in carbon emissions and other green house gases as a result of the Kyoto Protocol.

A building built now is 40% more efficient than one built five years ago. Further impending changes to Government strategy include incorporating renewable energy sources on development sites and whole life carbon indexing of buildings at the design stage.

At West Waddy ADP we are committed to meeting, and where appropriate exceeding, CO2 emission targets in our designs. West Waddy ADP employs a Sustainable Design Manager and qualified Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor who advise the team on sustainable design from the earliest stages of a commission. Decisions made at the initial design stage have the greatest impact on the carbon footprint of development and making best use of free passive technologies such as solar gain, natural ventilation and orientation costs nothing and can reduce energy demands by up to 30%.
